This timeline should just give you an overview of the richness of Chinese martial art styles and when these poped up in Chinese history.
Because a style is not developed on a single day the dates used in this timeline sometimes are based on their first appear of the style in history – mainly in books - and sometimes based on the lifetime of its founder.
Hopefully you realize how your own style is based on the information handed down from other styles and teachers in history.
I hope all enjoy objectively...
This timeline is based on the information I could get from the internet.
Most of the information are from
Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_martial_arts)
I also used the pages from Taiping Institute of Traditional Chinese Martial Arts (http://www.satirio.com/ma/).
Additionally I used the information from the book of Prof. Kang Gewu “Spring Autumn: The Spring and Autumn of Chinese Martial Arts - 5000 Years“.
If you think your style is not represented or the information about your style are wrong - just send me an email
